Everything is well in Shondaland with the latest release of Netflix's Bridgerton! As I predicted, I'm obsessed with Season 1 and I'm looking forward to future seasons of the show. In addition to the scandalous plots, attractive cast and gorgeous costumes, the show is a fun and frivolous escape from the dreariness of winter and quarantine. It is always so fun to see these period pieces come to life in film and television, but there are several books that can give you the same thrill that you may be seeking! See below my top book picks for Bridgerton stans.

A fiercely independent vicar's daughter takes on a duke in a fiery love story that threatens to upend the British social order.
Goodreads Description (Book 1):
Henry “Monty” Montague was born and bred to be a gentleman, but he was never one to be tamed. The finest boarding schools in England and the constant disapproval of his father haven’t been able to curb any of his roguish passions—not for gambling halls, late nights spent with a bottle of spirits, or waking up in the arms of women or men.

With his intrepid sister and the Veep’s genius granddaughter, they’re the White House Trio, a beautiful millennial marketing strategy for his mother, President Ellen Claremont. International socialite duties do have downsides—namely, when photos of a confrontation with his longtime nemesis Prince Henry at a royal wedding leak to the tabloids and threaten American/British relations. The plan for damage control: staging a fake friendship between the First Son and the Prince. As President Claremont kicks off her reelection bid, Alex finds himself hurtling into a secret relationship with Henry that could derail the campaign and upend two nations. What is worth the sacrifice?
5. Bridgerton Series - Last, but not least, I had to include the Bridgerton series that the Netflix show is based off of!
Goodreads Description (Book 1):
By all accounts, Simon Basset is on the verge of proposing to his best friend’s sister, the lovely—and almost-on-the-shelf—Daphne Bridgerton. But the two of them know the truth—it’s all an elaborate plan to keep Simon free from marriage-minded society mothers. And as for Daphne, surely she will attract some worthy suitors now that it seems a duke has declared her desirable. But as Daphne waltzes across ballroom after ballroom with Simon, it’s hard to remember that their courtship is a complete sham. Maybe it’s his devilish smile, certainly it’s the way his eyes seem to burn every time he looks at her… but somehow Daphne is falling for the dashing duke… for real! And now she must do the impossible and convince the handsome rogue that their clever little scheme deserves a slight alteration, and that nothing makes quite as much sense as falling in love….
